Paciano
Paciano was founded around the 14th century on a spur of Monte Petrarvella.
Many medieval aspects remain, such as the town wall and the Rastrella
and Fiorentina gates.
The main source of income for the village is olive oil, as tourism has
not caught on. Visitors can enjoy the tranquillity away from the beaten
track, together with exquisite views over the Lake Trasimeno valley.
Art Collection of St Joseph's
In the medieval centre of the village, the headquarters of the ancient
Confraternity of the Holy Sacrament houses an art collection documenting
the history of Paciano's art from Etruscan times to the early 17th century.
Festival of Oil (Festa dell'Olio)
The festival takes place during the first ten days of December, to coincide
with the harvest and pressing of the olives. As well as enjoying the various
festivities in the programme, visitors can taste the pure produce and
typical dishes of the area, served in characteristic restaurants.
