Fishing Museum
The museum, situated at San Feliciano in the Magione Local Authority
area, houses a collection of exhibits from more than two decades of investigation
into the 'culture of the water'.
The four rooms of the Museum are themed 'Alba' (Dawn), 'Mezzogiorno'
(Midday), 'Pomeriggio' (Afternoon) and 'Sera' (Evening), and forty-four
different methods of fishing are described in an historical, social and
environmental context. The exhibition starts with the geological history
of the lake (the 'Alba' room) and ends with the beginnings of modernisation
and the consequent effects on fishing.
Fishing in Lake Trasimeno
The many species of fish present in the lake include pike, tench, eel
and carp. They are used for both professional and sport fishing.
Visitors can practice sport fishing (no kill) from hired boats on Lake
Trasimeno. It is also possible to join a 4 hour, netting fish, boat excursion.
This is an unforgettable experience - casting and hauling in the nets
as dawn breaks over the lake.
